HECHT NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE JUNI R COUHCIL SECRETARY'S REPORT December 14, 1941 The second regular meeting of the Junior Council was called to order at Hecht House at 3:20 P.M. on Sunday, December 14, 1941* The Junior Council had planned to have eleotion of officers, but since there wasn't a majority of councilors present, it was decided best to postpone it. We then had the secretary's report which was accepted. We had decided that since last year's offioers all were absent, except Sylvia Goldstein, that she would preside. The Keren Ami Campaign was discussed. The Council decided to elect temporary offioers until the councilors decided about having a house election or not. We stated our views on having house election, but decided to inform and ask the clubs about it. We then elected temporary officers as follows: Sylvia Goldstein, presiding ohairman and Rita Markowsky, temporary secretary. It seems that the biggest problem facing the Junior Council is that we have to get more of the junior olubs represented and interested in the Junior Council. After much discussion and point of views, the following were the best suggestions for the solution: 1) That we should use force; 2) That we should expel them if they don't come and ohoose new officers; 3) That we should speak to them and find out the reason; 4) That we should not allow them to participate in Junior Council activities. 5) That the Hecht House should send out letters stating that refreshments will be served to entice them to come. 6) That we should appoint a committee to go up to clubs that don't come. We followed this suggestion and appointed two boys to carry this suggestion through, 7) That the Junior Council should make a calendar of events and supply it to the clubs. 8) That the councilors who did not attend would be punished by their club. Mr. Kidman then read us the clubs who did and did not send in the councilors' names. Vie explained to Mr. Sidman about the suggestion to leave the clubs who did not send their councilors out of the council's activities. Another discussion of the Keren Ami came up with another definition of it by Mr. Sidman, and finally the committee was appointed as follows: David .Veinstein, Sylvia Goldstein, Mel Foster and Sydney Tarbifan, The Purim Carnival was explained by Mr. Sidman and also the Oneg Shabbat party. It will be held Friday night at 8:00 o'clock. We were reminded to tell the clubs about saving newspapers and discussing the House eleotion with the other members. Meeting was adjourned at 5:50 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Rii&t&SkSe^fttarv
