He first covered staff set up: Bea Tosi - Overall Supervisor of Inter & Senior Program Leslie Schair - Nu-Teen Supervisor & Teen Special Interest Supervisor Barry Oana - Half time worker with Teens 2. Structure of Program: Nu-Teens k clubs serving kO 7th graders Inters 6 clubs serving 35 8th graders Seniors 11 clubs serving 150-160 Senior High Last year's statistics showed a total of 30 clubs serving kJS teens with a net drop of almost 200 Teens. There are also 8 special interest groups. 3. Trends: Mr. Tennenberg pointed out some significant program trends. Until 1963 the agency was used as a drop-in Center. Teens would be at the Center daily, using the game room to greater advantage. From 1963 on,a sharp decrease has eventuated in use of afternoon game room. The reason for this is that agency members no longer live within 1/2 mile (or walking distance) of the Center. There is now no afternoon game room because of unusually poor attendance. The teenagers now come to the Center for a specific purpose, i.e., clubs, special interest groups, or socials and dances. IMPLICATIONS OF CHANGING NEIGHBORHOOD TO TEE:.' PROGRAM 1. Parents drive teens to and from the Center. 2. There has been no apparent increase in non-Jewish members. 3. No apparent problems from neighborhood such as fights, etc. Program has not been curtailed because of membership drop-off. The additional Teen division, i.e., the Nu-Teens, was added to de-emphasize social aspect of twelve year old programming and to slovcly integrate the child into teen life. Bea and Leslie explained discussion programs.
