Nursery School Analysis — 1955-56 (Cont,) Page 1* Requests were made for a Sumner Nursery School, There were 25 people interested, but when given the fee only about six continued to have the need. This had to be self-supporting. Therefore, the fee quoted was $1*8. for members plus transportation $12. - for six weeks. For a 3 hour session this was felt to be too high. Approximately six people were interested in P.M. - perhaps two small groups - one in A.M. and one ln P.M, could have been arranged for this one teachers salary of $50, a week, A complete list of outgoing parents was given to Mrs. Greenhill, chairman of membership. Notations were made concerning qualifications. Hopefully these people will be contacted with the intention of retaining membership in Hecht House, SUGGESTED CHANCES FOR 1956-57 I, Introduce a $10. Registration deposit at time of interview. This will be refunded if child does not enter. If full terms of contract are met this will be applied to last tuition payment. Hopefully this will take care of time lag between withdrawal and replacement, also, 6th term withdrawals, H. Do not guarantee a place for child at time of interview. This should allow entry for the child with the most need. III, Have a form mimeographed to give drivers. Driver's Name: Phone Number: Fee: From To Messages to be phoned to the driver and not to the school, A second sheet for billing and a receipt, IV, Early in the school year try and organize group discussions for the parents. This would be with a qualified leader with an arranged fee to be paid by the parents. The need for this haa presented itself each year, V, Advertise in papers in August, Increase circulation to Dorchester, Roxbury, Ryde Park, Milton and Mattapan, VI, Termination of a staff Pediatrician, That is, no longer require a physical in school for the set fee of $3,00. Try and arrange for a Consultant Pediatrician, VII, Introduce a Tuition Refund Plan - this will be a 1*$ premium charge. (The above two suggestions, are discussed in full in the Nursery School Committee minutes,) VIII, All referrals by the staff to Children's Centre or J,F, _ CS, to be discussed with me. This will, hopefully, lead to less confusion. All student teachers reports to be discussed with me and a duplicate filed by me. All self-evaluations to be discussed with me this year. U.
