.rauiine wollina _II.JJ_RGARTE- REPORT 1936 The kindergarten is a fairly large one. Eight windows are in the room, which make the lighting effects very good. It also co: - tains two good sized oabinets for equipment, two large tables, two small tables, and two benches that are used as tables, "cubbies" for the children's hats and coats, a piano and a washbowl. The heating system did not take care of the kindergarten adequately, due to the fact that the heat could not be adjusted to suit the needs of the kindergarten without interfering with the temperature in the rest of the building. Due to this fact the room was at times either too warm or too cold, but rarely at a moderate temperature. The floor is a concrete one, and not very helpful to the heating of the room, £ heavy linoleum on the floor would not have drawn the cold as much as it did. Children enjoy sitting on the floor, but we had to be very careful because of the concrete floor. The best floor for a kindergarten room is a heavy linoleum. It is more comfortable and easier to keep clean. There is an entrance opening directly into a spacious playground, which is very convenient. On registration day in January, I was amazed to find that over one hundred children had registered for the Kindergarten—their awes ranging from 2^- to 5_- years. The dues were fifty cents for the year, I started the year with 50 children, and limited the age group to 3-5* year olds. The rest of the children were put on a waiti list, and were called when others dropped out. Some of the children dropped out, because of illness, the older ones left, because they preferred being with older children.
