However, I bolicve tho highlight of the ontiro wock was Miss Goldo Bambor, ^s sho stood before us on "Boston Night" and so eloquently and movingly told of Mrs. Hecht and the early days at Hooht Neighborhood Houso. About throe thousand dollars in birthday gifts woro donated to Hocht Houso. This is to be usod for much needed improvements, suoh as grading tho back yard, furnishing tho Lounge, theatre ourtains, n^_ junglo jim and othors. JEWISH WELFARE BOARD SURVEY Tho Jewish Wolf aro 3or.rd, at the present time, is making a Survey of the Jewish Youth or: Miizntions of groator Boston, and included in tho Survey is an intensive study of Heoht Neighborhood Houso. I shall mako no reoommendations at this timo as to changes in our program and sot-up, but shall wait for the findings of tho Survey Committoo. WHAT OF THE FUTURE? It is hard to talk today about tho futuro of any organization. Wo oan only hopo that in this country wc oan maintain our democratic way of lifo. At Heoht Houso, wo shall continuo our training in democratic proocsses so that our young pooplo will want to live in a democracy and can holp to mako that domocracy worl:. Tho yoars ahead will bo difficult onos for our Youth. Our Job will be to holp thorn to understand tho fore os ot work; to help thorn adjust themselves to tho trying times ahoad, and to dovclop them to be strong, thinking, arti- oulato people, knowing how to cooporato with othors to maintain tho institutions which stand for freedom.
