COMBINED JEWISH PHILANTHROPIES & Social Planning and Allocations Committee Community Relations Cornmittee June 19th Meeting: Present: Judge Jacob Lewiton, Chairman, Morton R. Godine, Harold Krensky, Mrs. Harry L. Michaels, Richard G. Mintz, Adolf F. Monosson, Allan R. Morse, Morris J. Rabinovitz, Chairman, Social Planning and Allocations Committee; Joseph A. Simons, Alan Slater, Roger Sonnabend, Albert H. Wechsler, Michael Winer. Staff: Simon Krakow. June 26th Meeting: Present: Judge Jacob Lewiton, Chairman; Morton R. Godine, Joseph M. Linsey, Mrs. Harry L. Michaels, Alan Slater, Albert H. Wechsler, Benjamin Ulin, Mrs. Charles Wyzanski, Jr. Morris J. Rabinovitz, Chairman, Social Planning and Allocations Committee; Staff: Dr. Benjamin B. Rosenberg, Simon Krakow, Reevan Spiller. GENERAL OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Our Committee membership this year included a large number of "new faces" - people who have done good work in other phases of CJP, but who have had no experience with allocations. We recommend that new members of allocations committees be briefed in advance (a) on the budgetary process in general; (b) on the interrelationship of the various components of the total allocations (local - national - UJA); and (c) on the functions of the agencies dealt with by a particular allocations committee. While the multigraphed literature which was forwarded to each member of our committee in advance of our meetings summarized the functions of several of the agencies, it is likely that a fuller report to the Committee would have been helpful. At the conclusion of the first meeting the members indicated that they would be pleased to attend one or more meetings during the fall season at which they would be informed in much greater detail as to the functions of these particular agencies, and we recommend the scheduling of such meetings .
