QommlUned flewtiU Afinmat of Greater Boston 72 Franklin Street, Boston 10- Massachusetts Telephone Liberty 2-80.0 MEMORANDUM T0: MTt: Dec. 6, 1954 fbo*: files Re: MULTIPLE CAMPAIGNS^COMMITTEE A meeting of the Committee to consider Multiple Campaigns in the city of Boston met on Thursday, December 2, 12:15 with the following present: Samuel Markell, Chairman, Simon J. Helman, Milton Kahn, Benjamin Ulin, Jacob L. Wiseman, Louis P. Smith, Sidney S. Cohen, Isaac Seligson David Kahn. A proposal to conduct a capital funds campaign of $50,000 to $60,000 in the City of Boston in conjunction with a million dollar campaign on a national scale for the Henry Monsky Memorial Building in Washington was discussed. This building is to constitute National Headquarters for the B'nai B'rith, housing all its departments and administratioe facilities. Philip Lown has already committed himself to sucha campaign locally on behalf of the National B'nai B'rith. Mr. Lown asked for clearance on ta«- hi-xfuatxtiiexltfxi-tx'kn-'-^^ this proposal and the Executive Committee of the CJA referred his request to the Committee on Multiple Appeals. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED: to recommend to the Executive Committee that the B'nai B'rith be asked to defer its campaign to this coming spring and to limit its solicitationto members of the Bnai B'rith organizations. Further, that conversations be arranged with Mr. Lown to consider with him what would constitute a fair goal to be raised for such a campaign.
