Imagine the Boston Jewish community raising $1 million in one day'
That's the goal of SUPER SUNDAY, scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 1981, when the
Combined Jewish Philanthropies will sponsor a new and unusual campaign approach.
On SUPER SUNDAY, more than 1,000 volunteers from throughout Greater Boston will
man a special bank of 150 telephones contacting some 15,000 to 20,000 contributors in
the course of the day.
We are approaching well-known personalities from the arts, sports and media and we
anticipate a good response that will attract wide attention. The Grand Ballroom of the
Boston Park Plaza Hotel in Park Square will be the setting for this historic day-long
event. The day will be divided into four 2-hour sessions between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.,
with each session preceded by a short worker orientation meeting.
In order for SUPER SUNDAY to be a success, we need your assistance. What we need,
specifically, is for you to appoint one member of your(organization)to be on our SUPER
SUNDAY Committee, whose job will be to recruit volunteers for January 18th and to
help plan the event. The person you choose should be a dynamic individual with proven
leadership qualities, someone who can inspire others to get results.
Of course, there will be community-wide publicity about SUPER SUNDAY and your
group's participation. We would also like to use your newsletter or other publications
to publicize the name of your SUPER SUNDAY Committee member and your organization's
role in the day's activities.
All of us have a vital stake in the success of SUPER SUNDAY if we are to maintain a
strong, vibrant and cohesive Boston Jewish community. Please return the enclosed
card promptly with the name of your representative so that the Committee can get to work.
Thank you for your cooperation.
