Ootober 6, 1950 For Howsletter Toward Racial and Religious Understanding Promi Jewish Conmunity Counoil of Metropolitan Boston . _--'' *' /**,»' .- The Jewish Conmunity Council of Metropolitan Boston, swinging its program of Pall season activities into high gear, has scheduled during Ootober and November a number of committee meetings and tackled several problems of recent origin. At the first Fall meeting on September 28 of tho representatives of the 22 large Jewish organizations in Greater Boston making up t>»*t Conmunity Council, a number of recent inoidonta involving alleged anti-Semitism were reported to tho Civic Defenso-Public delations Committee for investigation. Prior to the Senate vote to override President Truman's veto, the Jewish Community Counoil, as an affiliate of the National Comnunity -delations Advisory Council, joined ***lth other organizations^ dedicated to the preservation of civil liborties, in supporting Mr* Truman's opposition to the McCarran bill dealing with subversion. -The Community Counoil called for a law "not violative of traditional Anerioon concepts of oivil liberties," and asked Massachusetts senators 8altonstall and l*cdge to vote against the bill.
