Church records are a common source of vital statistic data and relationship documentation for genealogists and historians. Member lists, admission and dismissal records, pew deeds, prayer bills, conversion testimonies or public relations, sermons, meeting minutes, and similar records found in church records can be valuable primary resources for tracing an individual’s movements or adding details to a family or local history.

This collection contains selected church records from the R. Stanton Avery Special Collections. Highlights of the collection include:

  • First Baptist Church of Raynham (Massachusetts) records, 1780-1795 (Mss A 138)
  • Admissions and baptisms at the First Church at Dorchester, Massachusetts, 1745-1781 (Mss A 3268 and Mss A 3271)
  • Marriages by John Webb, minister of the Gospel in Boston, 1714-1750 (Mss C 1025)
  • Records of the First Baptist Church of Hollis, Me., 1797-1849 (Mss C 5773)
  • Records of the Church of Christ in Peacham, Vermont (Mss 879)

Additional manuscripts will be added to this digital collection on a regular basis.
